Vegan Baby Recipes

Ingredients

  • Ingredients:
  • - 1 medium sweet potato
  • - 1 cup frozen peas
  • - 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • - A pinch of salt optional
  • - 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon optional

Instructions

  • Cooking Instructions:
  • Begin by peeling the sweet potato and cutting it into small, even cubes. This will guarantee that it cooks evenly and quickly.
  • Place the sweet potato cubes in a pot and cover them with water. Bring the water to a boil over medium-high heat and cook for about 10-15 minutes, or until the sweet potatoes are tender when pierced with a fork.
  • In the last 5 minutes of cooking the sweet potato, add the frozen peas to the pot. This will allow them to cook just enough to soften without losing their vibrant color and nutrients.
  • Once both the sweet potato and peas are cooked, drain the water and return them to the pot. Add the olive oil, and if desired, sprinkle in a pinch of salt and ground cinnamon for added flavor.
  • Use a fork, potato masher, or food processor to mash the sweet potato and peas together until you achieve a smooth consistency. If the mash is too thick, you can add a little water or vegetable broth to reach the desired texture.
  • Let the mash cool slightly before serving it to your baby. You can serve it warm or at room temperature, depending on your child's preference.
  • For best results, always verify that the ingredients you use are fresh and organic whenever possible. Sweet potatoes can vary in size and sweetness, so adjust the amount of peas accordingly to achieve the balance of flavors that works for your baby.
  • Additionally, you can experiment with adding other vegetables like carrots or zucchini for variety, as well as herbs like basil or thyme to introduce new tastes. Remember to store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days, or freeze for future meals.
