Pork Chops on the Grill Recipe

Ingredients

  • Ingredients:
  • 4 bone-in pork chops about 1-inch thick
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh herbs for garnish optional

Instructions

  • Cooking Instructions:
  • Begin by preheating your grill to medium-high heat. If using a charcoal grill, allow the coals to burn down until they're covered with white ash, creating an even heat.
  • While the grill is heating, take the pork chops out of the refrigerator and let them sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes. This step helps them cook evenly.
  • In a small bowl, mix together the olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper to create a marinade. Rub this mixture all over the pork chops, ensuring they're evenly coated.
  • Once the grill is ready, place the pork chops on the grill grates. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side without moving them, allowing a nice sear to develop.
  • Flip the pork chops and grill for an additional 4-5 minutes on the other side, or until the internal temperature reaches 145°F (63°C). Use a meat thermometer to check for doneness.
  • Remove the pork chops from the grill and let them rest for about 5 minutes before serving. This helps retain the juices and keeps the meat tender.
  • For an extra burst of flavor, consider marinating your pork chops in the olive oil and spice mixture for a few hours or overnight before grilling. Additionally, you can add a splash of apple cider vinegar or lemon juice to the marinade for a tangy twist.
  • Always remember that the key to juicy pork chops isn't to overcook them, so keep a close eye on the temperature. Enjoy your grilled pork chops with a side of grilled vegetables or a fresh salad for a complete meal!
