Greek Vanilla Yogurt Recipe

Ingredients

  • Ingredients:
  • 4 cups plain yogurt preferably whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup adjust to taste
  • A pinch of salt

Instructions

  • Instructions:
  • Begin by placing a large fine-mesh strainer over a bowl. Line the strainer with a clean cheesecloth or coffee filter to help catch the whey that will drain off.
  • Pour the plain yogurt into the lined strainer. Allow it to drain at room temperature for about 1 to 2 hours, or until it reaches your desired thickness.
  • Once the yogurt has drained, transfer it to a mixing bowl. Add the vanilla extract, honey or maple syrup, and a pinch of salt.
  • Using a spatula or whisk, gently mix the ingredients until they're well combined and smooth. Taste the mixture and adjust the sweetness if necessary.
  • Transfer the Greek vanilla yogurt into an airtight container and refrigerate for at least an hour before serving. This will help the flavors meld together beautifully.
  • For the best results, remember that the quality of the yogurt you use will greatly affect the final taste of your Greek vanilla yogurt. Opt for a high-quality, full-fat yogurt for a creamier texture.
  • Additionally, feel free to experiment by adding other flavorings or mix-ins, such as fresh fruits or nuts, to personalize your yogurt. Enjoy your homemade creation as a delightful breakfast, snack, or dessert!
