Brownie Recipes From Scratch

Ingredients

  • Ingredients:
  • - 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • - 1 cup granulated sugar
  • - 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • - 2 large eggs at room temperature
  • - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • - 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • - 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • - 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • - 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Cooking Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare an 8×8-inch square pan by lining it with parchment paper, allowing some overhang for easy removal of the brownies later.
  • In a medium saucepan, melt the unsalted butter and both sugars together over low heat. Stir occasionally until completely melted and smooth. Remove the saucepan from heat and let the mixture cool for a few minutes.
  • Once slightly cooled, add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract until fully combined.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can lead to denser brownies.
  • Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips, ensuring they're evenly distributed throughout the batter. Pour the mixture into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 20-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Start checking at the 20-minute mark to avoid overbaking.
  • Once baked, remove the brownies from the oven and let them cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Use the parchment overhang to lift the brownies out and transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
  • Extra Tips:
  • For the best results, use high-quality chocolate and ingredients, as they greatly enhance the flavor of the brownies. Make sure not to overmix the batter; gentle folding will yield a lighter texture.
  • Feel free to double the recipe if you're hosting a gathering or want to stock up on treats. You can also experiment with different types of chocolate chips or add toppings like nuts or a sprinkle of sea salt for added flavor and texture. Enjoy your delicious homemade brownies!
